Equine-Assisted Wellbeing, Learning & Alternative Provision

Welcome to Pathway Ponies
At Pathway Ponies, we believe in the incredible power of ponies to support mental health, emotional wellbeing, and personal growth.
Our miniature ponies are far more than adorable companions—they are gentle, intuitive partners who help reduce stress, promote calm, and bring joy to every interaction. Whether through equine-assisted wellbeing, learning, or simply sharing quiet moments together, our ponies provide opportunities for connection, reflection, and growth for people of all ages and abilities.
.
Pathway Ponies provides a safe, nurturing space for young people and adults experiencing anxiety, including school-based anxiety. Here, individuals can take a step away from pressures and expectations, finding comfort, calm, and the freedom to simply be in the company of ponies and nature.
A Safe Refuge
Pathway Ponies provides a safe, nurturing space for young people and adults living with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, and special educational needs (SEN), as well as those experiencing anxiety, including school-based anxiety. Here, individuals can step away from everyday pressures and expectations, finding comfort, calm, and the freedom to simply 'be' in the company of ponies and nature.
Alternative Provision
For young people aged 12 and over, Pathway Ponies also offers a specialist form of Alternative Educational Provision. This combines equine-assisted wellbeing and equine-assisted learning with opportunities to build positive mindsets, develop responsibility and independence, and discover new strengths. As an ASDAN provider, we also offer accredited short courses and Life Skills Challenges, giving young people the chance to gain recognition for their achievements in a practical and therapeutic setting.
We are proud to be fully inclusive and SEN-friendly.
Every session is tailored to the individual, ensuring that each person feels safe, supported, and empowered. Alongside our education programmes, we also provide equine-assisted wellbeing sessions, outreach visits to private homes, care homes and schools, and SEN-friendly events such as workshops and pony parties.
Why Ponies?
Ongoing scientific research continues to highlight the many benefits of equine-assisted interventions, with findings showing that ponies have an incredible ability to mirror emotions, reduce stress, and foster a sense of calm. Through their gentle presence, they encourage confidence, self-expression, and emotional growth. Studies have also shown that equine-assisted interventions can ease anxiety, boost self-esteem, and support the development of resilience, life skills, and essential social and emotional skills. At Pathway Ponies, we provide a unique and nurturing space where both people and ponies can flourish together.
Our Commitment to Pony Welfare
At the heart of Pathway Ponies is our dedication to the wellbeing of our ponies, caring for both their emotional and physical needs. Our ponies live in a natural, herd-based environment where they are free to express natural behaviours, enjoy companionship, and have essential downtime. By ensuring they are respected and cared for to the highest standards, we create a supportive environment where both people and ponies can truly thrive together.
Who Can We Support?
We work with families, schools, local authorities, home educators, cared for children, care homes, supported living, and hospitals.
Sessions can be held at our site—or we can bring the ponies to you.
