The Pathway Ponies Team

Pathway Ponies was founded in 2022 by Carly Flower, Equine Assisted Wellbeing and Learning Coach.

Her equine team consists of her three very small Miniature Shetland ponies, Miniature horse and one slightly larger Shetland pony.  The ponies heights range from 32” to 40” tall, meaning although they might be small, their therapeutic powers are mighty and they do not intimidate their learners like bigger horses might.

Each pony has been a part of Carly's family for many years, supporting her own children develop their life skills growing up. All five ponies are trained to the highest standards, with naturally calm, kind, and gentle natures and they enjoy interacting with people. The ponies are comfortable and confident around wheelchairs and have extensive experience supporting individuals with ADHD, ASD, and dementia.

Carly's story

Carly Flower has an impressive background in supporting young people and adults through equine-assisted interventions. Having been lucky enough to grow up around horses, Carly started her professional equine career in 2010 as a groom and riding instructor subsequently promoting to Riding School Manager and caring for retired Police and Army horses.  Specialising in coaching young people with their confidence and mindset towards riding and horsemanship, she later extended her support by serving as an examinations invigilator, providing additional help to students with emotional concerns.

In 2018, Carly began visiting care homes and organising holiday taster sessions with her Shetland ponies. Her goal was to extend the availability of equine-assisted therapeutic benefits to more individuals.

This opened the gateway and in 2022 Carly founded Pathway Ponies, aiming to offer holistic interventions for young people and adults with various challenges, including low confidence, low self esteem, Autism and ADHD. Her professional certifications as an Accredited Equimotional Wellbeing Coach and Certificated Horse Powered Reading Coach demonstrate her expertise in working with horses to provide emotional and cognitive development to people of all ages. Carly's qualifications in young people's mental health and horse care further showcase her commitment to understanding her clients' needs.

With over 14 years of experience working with children and 30 years with horses, Carly brings extensive knowledge and compassion to her work, empowering individuals to thrive through equine-assisted interventions. Her dedication to Pathway Ponies reflects her commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of those she supports.
